The Agathian's Shelter is looking to raise about RM40,000 to complete renovations in their new shelter. The current premise in Section 8 needs to be expanded to fit the growing needs of the organisation. The new shelter was located next to the existing one but needed major repair work and renovations. Work included wiring, fencing, painting and building of study areas for the boys. The shelter faced problems in raising enough funds for the renovation and this was delaying the move to the new home.

Organization Overview	:	Agathians Shelter is headed by a committee of seven people who are in charge of adminstration and planning. The daily operation of the Home is governed by a management team of six volunteers. They are in the Home on rotation basis and serve the children daily needs. However, the Home hires three full time employees to act as care taker for the children. In short, this home is operated on voluntary basis

Mission	:	AGATHIANS SHELTER is an orphanage for boys that was founded in 2003 by a team of young adults. It was set up to save a group of children from being turned out to the street and to provide a home for them . The children are from various backgrounds; some are orphaned, some only have a single parent who can’t afford to feed them and others are either abandoned or neglected. Our volunteers then decided to start a home to care and house these children.

Objectives	:	Agathians Shelter is listed with the Welfare Department as a voluntary, non-profit, multi-religious based non-governmental welfare organization that is opened to all children and teenagers who have been abandoned, neglected, orphaned or abused.

History	:	Agathians Shelter was set up six years ago as an orphanage for boys. It provides a home to orphans, abandoned children, and children of single parents. At the time of writing, there are 32 children living in the orphanage, ranging from the ages of 4 to 17 years old. The home is managed by 7 committee members, all of whom are volunteers. The home employs four full time staff as caretakers, and a volunteer administrator handles the day-to-day administration work.
